THE DESIGN PROCESS
NICOLE MICHELLE COUTURE designs her gowns for real people. Her designs will flatter and accentuate a brides best features and hide the parts that the client doesn’t like. When a gown is designed for a bride a lengthy consultation will evolve the gown of her dreams. Fabrics, colours, and design are discussed in lengthy detail, making sure that her bride’s gown is perfect.
Nicole Michelle’s inspiration comes from many places including film, magazines and theatre. Fabrics play an important part…
“I will quite often see a fabric and fall in love with it then design a gown to suit”
Her black gown was just that. Black silk tulle, latte silk satin, beaded black corded lace motifs and a stunning feather brooch. The gown had to be one shouldered for the brooch. It needed to have a wow factor hence the full silk duchess satin skirt.*
“2013 is a year that lace will still be very strong. Gowns will be feminine and romantic and they will be a lot more individual. Brides will be wanting designer gowns that they can be very much involved in designing and being able to add their own personal touches.”
Nicole came across a beautiful pale pink Dupion silk and silk chiffon and knew there had to be ruffles, then came the gorgeous lace and feathers. Thus the gown evolved. She knew the gown had to be full, draping using the two fabric was used in the bodice.*
*The two gowns mentioned above belong to the latest NICOLE MICHELLE COUTURE collection available in the studio now.
